Gamilaraay is a unique Australian language which Tracey is keen to share it with others. As a Gamilaraay woman who teaches Gamilaraay at the University of Sydney, Tracey has been able to do this through learning, teaching and talking to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians in and about her Gamilaraay language.
 
Gamilaraay is Tracey's connection to Country, to culture and to mob. Gamilaraay and all Australian languages are part of our heritage as Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians, and they need to be revitalised, maintained and spoken so they can continue to provide a unique window through to the worlds of ancestors and to Country.

About the speaker
 
Tracey Cameron is a Gamilaraay person whose family comes from southern Gamilaraay Country near Mullaley, between Coonabarabran and Gunnedah in northwest NSW. Tracey was born and grew up on Wiradjuri Country and now live in Sydney, where she teaches Indigenous studies in the School of Literature, Art and Media at the University of Sydney.
